Accepting new clients - No waiting list
As a therapist with lived experience navigating multiple intersections of cultural identity, I recognize that each person’s journey is unique. I also understand therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” box. For those reasons, my methods are collaborative, integrative, and creative.
Together with my clients, I explore what brings them to therapy and develop treatment plans based on individual needs, strengths, and circumstances — acknowledging the expertise they have in their own lives — to help them go from feeling stuck to empowered in order to make and maintain meaningful changes.

“New beginnings start with knowing how we create the trap that we are caught in, how we have deprived ourselves of the love we need. Strong bonds grow from resolving to halt the cycles of disconnection, the dances of distress.” – Dr. Sue Johnson

About Me and My Practice
-
Education and Experience
I’m Myroslava Stadnyk (she/her) — a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and an active member of the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP).
My office is located in the Bloor & Christie neighbourhood of Toronto (at 715 Bloor Street West), and I offer in-person and online individual sessions in English and Ukrainian languages.
My academic background includes the completion of a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and a post-graduate certificate in Public Relations, both from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) (formerly Ryerson University).
As an integrative therapist, I am trained in various evidence-based therapeutic modalities. To assist with my clients’ specific needs, I mainly draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) (a humanistic and experiential approach, rooted in adult attachment theory) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) (a skills-driven approach, focused on helping people regulate their emotions more effectively); as well as elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), parts work informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Dr. Janina Fisher’s Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) model, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness, and sensorimotor/body-based interventions.
With over a decade of experience providing counselling to youth and adults with diverse needs in the social services sector (including emergency shelters, court-mandated programming, and probation office) and working in private practice, I am passionate about helping people heal, discover themselves, and overcome adversity. I am also committed to my own self-growth through personal therapy, ongoing professional development, and clinical supervision.

Specialization and Approach
I specialize in working with adults, and my areas of focus include anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, relationship conflicts, turmoil of family and work-related changes, and complex/attachment trauma.
As a queer immigrant woman, I take a therapeutic approach that is rooted in intersectional feminist and anti-oppressive values. It is non-pathologizing, trauma-informed, focused on the client-therapist relationship — balancing collaboration, support, and challenging clients at their own pace.
In a safe and validating environment, I invite clients to delve deeper into their history and how they understand their emotional experiences. By utilizing emotionally focused techniques (active listening, paying attention to body language, reflecting emotions, and providing an in-the-moment accepting presence), together, we explore how emotions affect thoughts, behaviours, and relationships. Bringing awareness to, understanding, expressing, and processing emotions aims to help clients gain insight into their patterns and experiences – beyond coping with surface-level issues and symptoms – into the creation of new inner experiences and secure relationships with self and others.
In sessions, I also teach DBT skills that can be applied to regulate intense emotions, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and increase distress tolerance; and help clients learn how to tune into the emotions held in their bodies — to deepen their understanding of themselves, build emotional resilience, regulate the nervous system, release stored trauma, and improve overall well-being.
By acknowledging that we all have complex histories, intersecting socio-cultural identities, and that we are influenced by the systems we exist in, I strive to create a therapeutic space that honours my clients’ diverse experiences. I prioritize clients’ strengths and resources – viewing them as experts in their own lives – while offering support from my role as a therapist.
